Bed size: Madeira Halls

Yes, my daughter is in Madeira Halls (2021/2022 in her First Year). The beds are single, with space underneath to store cases/boxes etc. Her room is spacious (maybe because there is a single bed rather than double), and when she arrived it was all spotlessly clean, with a mattress protector, new shower curtain etc).

My daughter loves living in Madeira - and I also think it was the perfect choice! It is divided into three blocks. My daughter is in Block A which has a a laundry room (run by Circuit Laundry) on the ground floor for all the students. There are 8 bedrooms (all with ensuite) in my daughter's fl
The halls are very central to everything! They are practically next door to the police station and there is a small Co-op at the end of the road, but more importantly, there are several supermarkets within a short walk away, including a large Asda and a Lidl.
The nightclubs are also very near, as is the all important Wetherspoons - all just a short walk away. There are loads of restaurants and cafes etc too.
The students are currently making good use of the beautiful sandy beach, which is 10-15 mins walk from the halls
Getting to AUB campus is one easy bus ride. My daughter bought a bus pass - there are several options for this but hers was, I think, about £250 for the year and allows her to use the buses at weekends, on various routes etc. For example, she went on a little day trip for fun, to Sandbanks, Poole last weekend, on an open topped bus... all paid for on her pass!
The journey from Madeira to campus takes about 15 mins and apparently the buses run frequently and to time. There are cycle racks at Madeira if you want to take a bike and cycle to campus.
There is a doctor's surgery on campus where most students register. Prescriptions can be picked up at the pharmacy at Asda (and of course various chemist's in town).
I know my daughter has been very lucky - all 8 in her flat get on so well and since they first met, they socialise together constantly. They are a mixed bunch of students, boys and girls from all over the country and all doing different courses at AUB - 2 on the Acting course, 3 doing Fine Arts, 1 doing Animation, 1 doing Photography, 1 doing Costume - They all come and go, but just have a very relaxed way of life, which the town and the beach lends itself to.

Thank you so much, this is very informative. Sounds like your daughter has enjoyed her time so far
