The truth is that most student chats are not organised by universities or parents. They usually appear naturally once students begin connecting online.
Students tend to find each other through a mixture of WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook groups and Discord communities.
Here are the most common ways it happens.
Course Group Chats
Many group chats begin when students realise they are studying the same course.
These chats often start when someone posts something like:
