Hi. My daughter is well into her 2nd year at Lancaster and has really thrown herself into uni life, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. She's also a student ambassador, so may be able to help where I can't. Xx
Hi, can your daughter advise on Bowland Annexe, Bowland Hall and County basic en-suite. Trying to keep the cost down by applying for basic standard at Bowland Annexe but catered as he Picked Lancaster over Nottingham but really liked the social side of catered halls there. Eldest went to Lancaster and she is not so sure he should go catered in case he ends up in a flat with students that are less sociable which is the opposite to what he is looking for, thanks.

😂 He was in Bowland in a flat of 4. Lancaster was his insurance and it wasn’t or of the colleges he put down. He was in with a couple of guys who were quite quiet but it’s difficult to say really as for the first term most things were closed and they couldn’t socialise, then second term was at home. I think it’s probably good to be on campus for the first year, but in second year he likes being in town and just has a bus pass to get back to campus. X
Hi was he in Bowland Annexe I.e. basic, we are thinking about this. What are his thoughts on it?

My DD is looking at accommodation options, she'd really like there to be some social space over and above the kitchen table, even if it is just some soft seating. Are the townhouses the only spaces which have this? Thanks 😊
Ash House is a good alternative and has a cleaner.

We’ve applied for Cartmel and Bowland standard en-suite but gather likelihood of getting what you ask for is small🤦‍♀️

is this for catered? son is thinking catered as he thinks it will be very sociable and get him out of the flat but prefers standard as he does not want the hassle of cleaning his en-suite. What is your daughter going to study, my son engineering So full on contact time, another reason for trying catered, he can actually cook very well.

Hi yes it’s catered primarily as I think for the first year he’ll get proper food down him and probably save us money in the long run!!
My son is doing film & philosophy course with a year abroad. He can’t wait to go!! He wants en-suite but don’t think he has given any thought to the cleaning of it 🤣😂

He was in Bowland basic en-suite - it was clean and the room and bathroom were bigger than much of the newer accommodation. Main drawback was that there was no communal space other than a small kitchen and dining table - no lounge area to socialise.

Hi. I've spoken to my daughter. She said she's never been in Bowland accommodation so can't really say much about them. She has heard however, that Bowland Annex has so many people, so it's great for parties!

She lived in a townhouse in County which was great for socialising, plus in a house of 12, you're bound to find someone you get on with. She said accomodation in County Main is also really good.

My daughter didn't do catered because she preferred not to have restrictions on when she eats, plus she loves cooking! Not something she's inherited from me!!
