Hello all. My son will likely be attending Glasgow in the fall studying Economics. We are from the US so trying to understand all the intricacies of the UK system. Given he has a conditional offer, there is nothing we can do at this point regarding lodging, correct? I believe the full offer is made his senior transcripts are submitted (presuming he gets the required GPA). The lodging question will need to be resolved then. Will he be at a disadvantage by waiting or is lodging sorted by the school closer to the start date? Appreciate any insight—it feels like we should be doing something but not sure there is anything to do at this point!

It’s all university specific but for Glasgow, my understanding from speaking to the Accommodation team at the Open Day is that you still apply for accommodation. The way it was explained to me (and if I’ve understood correctly) is that they have two lists. One for unconditional offers- first come first served and accommodation will be confirmed before results arrive. The other is for conditional offers and same approach but accommodation won’t be confirmed until after results day. Accommodation is effectively split into two (at very basic level) - half for one list and half for the other.
I don’t know if it’s different for your son (can’t think why it would be) so I’d get him to submit his preferences. Hope that helps
No worries- happy to help. Funnily enough, that was the one that I was most interested in. Rest of the open day for our daughter was more about seeing the facilities or was course specific. This is a really useful website!

Hi, my daughter has a conditional for Accounting with Statistics for this year. I am nervous as she would be going after S5 and isn't 18 until January. No subjects are interesting enough for her to stay on for S6.
