Son has just moved in to DH this week as a 1st year student as did not secure Uni accommodation.

The location is perfect! Right across the road from the Uni, in fact he’s lucky enough that his room overlooks the Uni. He does overlook the main road and so is a bit noisy when the window is open but you can’t hear a thing when the window is closed!

First thoughts are good. Room is fine, more storage than I thought.

I think it is similar to most Uni halls in what it has, but have listed below some details anyway.

3/4 (small double) bed.

Under bed has 4 drawers and a larger square cupboard suitable for excess shopping and other larger bits and pieces.

There is a large desk.

A set of 3 drawers and 2 open shelves under the desk.

Two shelf units on the wall either side of the desk.

Two sets of plugs on the wall by the desk and a set of plugs/USB points above bed.

Normal size wardrobe with hangar and shelving.

Bathroom isn’t modern like I’ve seen in some other private accommodation but is perfectly adequate for his needs and will be easy to clean !

Flat has 6 rooms with a shared kitchen.

Kitchen is lovely and airy and spacious with some couches to sit at and socialise.

There are two fridge/freezers and two sinks, and they get two kitchen cupboards each. Mop, bucket, hoover, dustpan and brush, broom & ironing board & iron all provided in kitchen.

Washing and drying facilities on the ground floor along with a common room with TV, pool table etc.

Friendly staff, reception manned for most of the day, CCtV etc in the building.

It’s right next to a Tesco express, round the corner to Iceland and Sainsburys and Aldi a 15min walk away. Close to town centre.

And slightly cheaper than his Uni halls would have been !

If you're lucky enough to be on a high floor the other side, you can sit in bed and watch the cruise and navy ships come and go (just).
