Audition songs and monologues

Hi there, just wondering if anyone has any advice on good songs or monologues to prepare for musical theatre auditions?
Any help gratefully received.

My daughter’s been thinking a lot about this, although for acting rather than musical theatre. We’ve debated well-known vs less well-known pieces, but I think the most important advice she’s received is to choose something that is performed by a character who would be a similar age and to choose something she can really identify, with to have the best chance of a good audition.

Hi my daughter keeps changing her mind.. I do think age of character makes a difference. Hard to do online too. Best of luck to your daughters...

Have them read plays. My D picked from a play she read. Character close to age does matter. You don’t want her to audition playing an 80 year old!
