My daughter is first year in University of Surrey and absolutely loving it. I’ve posted photos her settling into halls. Room is basic but clean and easily decorated to make homely. Plenty of storage. New mattress protector provided but Single bed needed a topper I bought a double duvet in the Tesco (folded it in half) and she’s comfy and sleeping well. She has her own en-suite (Band D room). Shared kitchen between 6 - 2 boys and 4 girls. Says they’re all so lovely and has had no problems making friends. Excellent bus links between Manor Park and main campus at Stag Hill and into town. She has a bus pass (reduced rate for students) which she is already getting a lot of use out of. Big Tesco right beside Manor Park. Guildford is beautiful. Very historic town centre with beautiful shops, cobbled streets, market and restaurants. Manor Park Campus really impressed us on Open Day - was always our first choice. Professors clearly happy working there. Very warm, friendly and engaging. Felt like home from home for us and we travelled from NI. Flew to Gatwick and direct train from airport straight into Guildford in 42 minutes. Vet Med course has started this week and lots of work. Lectures online (which is good as she can pause it and take notes) but loved her first animal handling practical yesterday. Freshers last week was a socially distanced festival outdoors on the Stag Hill campus around the lake - loads of picnic tables, food and drink vans, Music and outdoor cinema. She’s loving it and that makes it so much easier for me knowing she is happy.
