Applying through UCAS

Hi. Is there any point applying for a course at a uni where your predicted results are not what the course is asking for (eg: ABB instead of AAB)

Yes definitely. They will probably still offer you AAB but you may achieve this on results day or the Uni may drop a grade on results day. My son had BBB predicted last year but he chose a couple that were higher. Loughborough's standard offer was ABB but offered him BBB and he got in on results day with BBC. Obviously don't choose all 5 unis that are higher than predicted but I'd certainly go with a couple. Also a good personal statement may help you get an offer at perhaps a slighter lower level than standard.

Thank you. That’s encouraging. There is only one which is above (Loughborough) but the others are within his predicted and also an insurance one just in case.

I agree, definitely worth applying. They might not lower their offer, but might well accept lower on results day.

I was told by several that they can offer to those with up to 2 points lower than advertised, although the offer will probably be as advertised . Only 1 was a bit negative .

Hello everyone, I have asked Bangor University this but would also be keen to hear all views. With there being no exams this year do you think this will mean universities will be more strict or do you think there will be some grade flexibility on courses. I have been told and read that because of a lot of students deferring last year that there are a lot less places available than normal. I am panicking a little that we will need flexibility and it wont be available.

Thats the million dollar question, no one knows do they? real hope these kids don't miss out again, its been such a horrid sixth form for them. I'm very worried they will miss out on places.
