Universities automatically giving halls rent credit

University of Cumbria....6 weeks rent waived for those students who haven't returned during this lockdown.

Edge Hill University refunding students who do not return to university-owned accommodation from 25th January until guidance on returning changes. Also refunding between 10th-18th December and 4th-25th January (I believe for all students) due to government guidance to go home/not return. Refunds will be deducted from final rent payment, or refunded directly if halls paid in full.

Warwick University has given a rent rebate I am not sure how long it is for as my son actually went back on the 30th December before lockdown was announced so it doesn't apply for us but I think it is 6 weeks for anyone who didn't go back although I am told they are reviewing it on 1 March so I guess if the lockdown goes on longer and they are told not to go back it will be a longer rebate.

Leeds Beckett emailed daughter yesterday . She will be receiving a rent rebate for 4th Jan until 8th of March unless she returns before that date . Hasn’t said amount so assuming it is full rent rebate but guess we wait and see

UEA have this week offered my daughter an additional rebate. No further discount on their costs this year, but an additional 4 weeks after the end of term for free.

Queen Mary University London automatically reduced Spring and Summer 2021 rents by 30% for all in campus accommodation regardless of whether there or not.

University of Southampton giving credit for summer term fees - for university owned halls, if student not
returned- spring term fees already taken.

Cardiff University also giving credit for summer term accommodation fees in university owned Halls of residence.

As far as we can gather, Oxford are only charging for the weeks actually in halls. My son was back for most of last term but hasn't been invoiced yet. Which is odd because he was invoiced soon after arrival in October.
