Tips for a great statement?

Any suggestions on what to write in a personal statement? My DD's college don't seem to be supporting their Yr13's now they are back. This is the first Uni experience for our family, so feel a bit lost. Thanks

I think it's really important to focus the PS on the subject dd wants to study. Has she done extra reading, attended lectures, entered competitions, anything that demonstrates interest beyond the curriculum. DS's statement was purely about his interest in his subject and extra curricular stuff with 3 lines at the end about hobbies/other stuff. He had offeres from all his 5 choices.

My son's were both mainly on the subject they wanted to study and why, and book they had read about it. They both put a short paragraph on at the bottom about themselves and their achievements so far, and also got 5 offers each. It was a bit easier as they were applying for the same course at all their choices, I know some people apply for different ones and so can't be as specific.

My dd has just completed her final draft and has had to send it to various teachers/year head etc in her 6th form. She got good feedback: she spoke mostly around her subjects and study away from school. She had a small paragraph at the end about hobbies and positions held in school. Her teachers did say that some students who haven’t got much out of school subject material to write about will focus on their hobbies and try to link them to their course.

Hi if your child is at a state school they can contact the people at https://www.zerogravity.co.uk/ for help. They are fantastic and helped my son get his place at Oxford Uni when his school did not have a clue how to help as they had never had anyone apply to Oxford before. My son also runs a facebook page/youtube channel called Get to University which he set up to help the year below him when the school were doing nothing during lockdown if you use this link you should be able to get his page up https://www.facebook.com/GetToUni/?...SSfIlqMOhoa3ZxybTq6wwsv9DEoF4C6_A&__tn__=R]-R
